How exactly does the lottery work? Here you will find honest, concrete answers to the most frequently asked lottery questions: about playing along, the rules, the draw, the prizes, the good cause and your privacy.
01About the lottery
How does the JNF lottery work?
You buy one or more tickets at € 10 each during the sales period from 15 July to 14 December 2026. Every ticket bought is automatically entered into the draw of all 150 prizes on 15 December 2026. Of the proceeds, 75% goes to Lahav Farm in the Negev, 15% to the prize pool and 10% to operating costs.
When is the draw?
The draw takes place on 15 December 2026 at 20:00 CET and is broadcast live. All 150 prizes are drawn in a single draw. Ticket sales close one day earlier, on 14 December 2026 at 23:59.
How are the winners determined?
The winning ticket numbers are drawn using a certified Random Number Generator (RNG) under independent supervision. No human hand is involved: every ticket entered into the draw has exactly the same chance.
What are my chances of winning?
The honest answer: your chances depend on the total number of tickets sold; every ticket has an equal chance. There are 150 prizes to be drawn plus 5 extra flight tickets in the bonus draw. The more tickets you buy, the more often your name is in the draw — but participation is never a guarantee of winning. Play responsibly and in moderation.
How do I check my ticket after the draw?
After the draw we publish the winning ticket numbers on the website. You simply compare the ticket number from your confirmation email with the published list. Winners are also notified personally by email within 48 hours.
What is the bonus draw?
In addition to the main draw of 150 prizes, a bonus draw awards 5 extra return flights to Israel. All participating tickets are automatically entered; you do not have to do or pay anything extra for this.
Is this lottery legal? Do you have a licence?
Yes. The 72nd JNF Lottery is a one-off lottery with licence 25110 from the Netherlands Gaming Authority (KSA), valid from 24 June to 16 December 2026. Stichting Joods Nationaal Fonds (JNF Nederland) is an ANBI-recognised institution, registered in the Trade Register under KvK number 41200972 (RSIN 002955659).
02Buying tickets
Who is allowed to take part?
Participation is only possible for residents of the Netherlands aged 18 and over. One account per person is permitted. JNF employees are excluded from participation.
How is my age verified?
During registration you enter your date of birth; this is verified. Minors are automatically blocked and cannot buy tickets. For prizes above € 2,500, an additional KYC identity check also takes place.
How do I buy tickets?
Via the Play along page: you register with your details, choose the desired number of tickets and pay securely. After payment you receive a confirmation by email with your ticket number(s). Sales run from 15 July to 14 December 2026 (closing at 23:59).
Which payment methods do you accept?
You can pay via iDEAL, credit card (Visa/Mastercard), PayPal or bank transfer with a unique payment code. With a bank transfer, your ticket counts as soon as the payment has been received and processed.
How much does a ticket cost?
A ticket costs € 10. Of this, 75% goes directly to Lahav Farm, 15% to the prize pool and 10% to operating and administrative costs. There are no hidden charges.
Can I buy multiple tickets? Is there a maximum?
Yes, you can buy multiple tickets — up to a maximum of 500 tickets per person. Each ticket is entered separately into the draw and the bonus draw.
Can I cancel or withdraw my purchase?
No. Tickets are non-refundable once they are entered into the draw; this is a statutory exception to the right of withdrawal for games of chance. Please therefore check your order carefully before you pay.
03Prizes & winning
How do I know I have won?
In two ways: winners are notified personally by email within 48 hours, and the winning ticket numbers are published on the website. So you will not miss anything — but to be sure, check your own ticket number as well.
When will I be notified if I win?
Within 48 hours of the draw on 15 December 2026. The notification is sent to the email address you registered with. So after the draw, keep an eye on your spam folder too.
How do I receive my prize?
Prizes are awarded within 30 days of the draw, in consultation with the winner. Flight tickets are sent digitally or by post, the grand prize trip is arranged through JNF Experience, and products (such as books and Israeli hampers) are delivered by post.
Do I have to pay gambling tax on my prize?
No. Gambling tax is due on prizes worth more than € 449, but the organisation pays this. So you receive your prize net, without any deductions or additional assessments.
I have lost my confirmation email with my ticket number. What now?
No problem: you can request your ticket number(s) via our support team by sending an email to info@jnfloterijactie.nl. To prevent misuse, we ask you to identify yourself when doing so. We respond within 24–48 hours on working days.
What is the KYC verification for large prizes?
For prizes worth more than € 2,500 we are required to verify your identity (Know Your Customer). You will then be asked to show a valid form of identification before the prize is awarded. This protects both you and us against fraud.
What happens to prizes that are not claimed?
We do everything we can to reach winners: personal notification by email as well as publication of the winning ticket numbers. If, despite this, a prize is not claimed within a reasonable period, its value flows back to the good cause, Lahav Farm.
04The good cause
Where does the money go?
75% of every euro goes to Lahav Farm in the Negev in Israel, where it is used to plant 10 hectares of new vineyards. 15% forms the prize pool and 10% covers the operating and administrative costs of the lottery.
Who is helped by Lahav Farm?
Lahav Farm provides therapy and recovery for Israeli soldiers and their families — in particular reservists who were mobilised after 7 October 2023. The programme combines psychological support with working the land, under the guidance of professional mentors.
How can I check that the money is spent well?
Transparency is central: annual reports and auditor's statements are available on request via info@jnfloterijactie.nl. In them you can see exactly how the proceeds have been distributed and spent.
What does ANBI status mean?
ANBI stands for Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling (public benefit organisation): recognition by the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) that the organisation is almost entirely dedicated to the public interest. You can check our registration (RSIN 002955659) in the public ANBI register via belastingdienst.nl.
What percentage goes to the good cause?
75% of the total proceeds goes directly to Lahav Farm. By comparison: 15% goes to the prize pool of 150 prizes and only 10% to operating costs. This distribution is fixed and is accounted for in the annual report.
